Description

It has recently been shown by Barenboim, Ireland, and Stebbins that small-scale primordial power will inevitably be redistributed in the course of cosmological evolution, leading to large-scale uncorrelated (white) noise in the cosmic density field. The absence of white noise on the largest observed scales allows us to place constraints on the amount of small-scale power that was present in the primordial power spectrum. I will discuss the implications of this result for inflation.
